I. Encourage Others (1 Timothy 5:1-2)


1 Timothy 1:3 – “... remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,” 


Titus 1:9 – “He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” 


Proverbs 17:10 – “A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.” 


Proverbs 28:23 – “Whoever rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than he who flatters with his tongue.” 


Proverbs 15:1 – “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” 


Proverbs 12:18 – “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” 


2 Timothy 2:25 – “correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,” 


II. Honor Widows (1 Timothy 5:3-6)


John 19:26-27 – “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.” 


III. Provide for Your House (1 Timothy 5:7-8)


John 13:35 – “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”


IV. Identifying Our Widows? (1 Timothy 5:9-16)


Romans 12:10 – “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
