II. Why Pray? (1 Timothy 2:3-4)


2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 


Ezekiel 33:11 – “...As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways...” 


1 Timothy 4:10 – “For to this end [training for Godliness] we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” 


Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” 


John 3:36 – “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” 


III. The Confidence of Prayer (1 Timothy 2:5-7)


Acts 4:12 – “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”


Galatians 1:3-4 – “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,” 


Mark 10:45 – “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.””
